Ania was employed on a six-month trial period at a French company in Poland.

She called me when her contract was coming to an end and she felt confident enough in her new job to ask for a raise, and not a small one!

Her position was quite advantageous because the job required both certain technical skills and fluent French. She lived in a small town, so the chances of her boss finding someone with such skills right away were minimal.

Ms. Ania was used to good salaries abroad, and this was her first job in Poland. Previously, the position was held by someone who worked at the company’s headquarters in France and was paid in euros, not zlotys.
