Where are you currently forced to fight?

Mars, the Roman god of war.

I started thinking about him because he is currently transiting through my first house.

This is nothing unusual, as this planet orbits the entire zodiac every two years.

In astrology, the slower a planet moves, the stronger its influence on us.

Mars transit alone, unless accompanied by a slower planet, will not change our lives, but it can stimulate the area of life it is currently passing through.

In astrology, the 12 houses of the horoscope are responsible for the individual areas of life.

The first house is extremely important because it represents our body, personality, vitality, and the impression we make on others.

Mars itself represents our drive, how we take action, how we fight for what we want. This is where our primal survival instinct comes in, so we don’t have time for politeness (unless we were born with Mars in Libra, in which case we sometimes have to suck up to get what we want). In traditional astrology, Mars is a so-called malefic; it is associated with discord, fire, sharp tools, inflammation, accidents, robberies, etc.

Nowadays, despite the fact that we avoid negative labels for planets, this is not always the case with Mars. We live in a culture where we are taught to be polite, wait our turn, and, of course, be PATIENT… the latter being the antithesis of Mars! The pure energy of Mars is best seen in children, who do not understand the words “wait” or “soon.” Especially during the so-called “terrible twos” (a term used to describe the age of two, if you know what I mean), they want everything right now, they can’t control their urges and emotions. This is pure Mars energy. How would you explain to the god of war (the Mars archetype) that he shouldn’t stick his neck out and be polite?

But let’s get back to my p, to my first home. I thought to myself, aha! Here it comes!

They’ll tell me off for not taking anyone into account, that I’ll burn myself on something again and cut myself, and of course I’d better not force my way through in traffic.

It’s been three days since Mars entered my first house and I’ve already managed to chip a nail on one hand so badly that it’s starting to come off. On the other hand, in a rush (how Mars-like!), I scratched my other fingernail until it bled while using a razor. I’ve also burned myself many times while cooking and frying enthusiastically, and I fell off my bike, scraping my knees until they bled.

None of these things are, of course, any kind of major life event, and I agree with you.

So why am I writing about this? What does this knowledge give us? Well… first of all, if we know this, we are careful and don’t tempt fate. My little accidents are one thing, but speeding and cutting people off is another. Secondly, we can plan and use planetary energies constructively.

Each planet has its light and dark sides. The order in which they travel through the houses of the horoscope is also not random.

Before my Mars moved into the first house, it traveled through the twelfth house. This is a time when the planet is less active and the effects of its work are not very visible. It is a good time to start planning what we will do when the planet finally gains strength to act and moves into our first house (it is always strengthened in the first house). As it happens, I spent the entire time Mars was traveling through my 12th house with my family in Poland. I felt that after returning to the US, I wanted to start a healthy routine; introduce regular workouts, get up earlier, eat healthier, and send my children to preschool so that I would have more time for my clients. While in Poland, I knew that none of this would happen until I returned home because I was living out of a suitcase between two cities with two small children. However, I took many steps. One of them was meeting with a nutritionist and trainer to plan my return to shape. There is no better time to start new activities, especially sports, than when Mars, the planet of energy, enters the first house. There will be energy, and you need to find healthy outlets for it during this time. Mars in the first house also gives you confidence and decisiveness. So I left important conversations to be had for this time. When Mars travels through the first house, we are more enterprising and determined. I have a big project in the works, and I spent my entire stay in Poland taking care of details that would allow me to get off to a better start when I return to the US. Since I came back, which coincides with Mars entering my first house, I can safely say that I’ve been running at full speed from 5:30 in the morning until late at night. As I mentioned earlier, I have had a few minor incidents, but overall, I would rate my transiting Mars in the first house as a 5+. With such ratings, one must always take into account what the planet has to offer, which can be directly read from its individual position in the horoscope. My Mars is strong in itself because it is in Capricorn, which is in exaltation, meaning that it has the power to act. It is in the fifth house of my birth chart, which means that its activity will be visible through, among other things, sports, romance, children, and creative activities. It is connected through its rulership with the 4th house, which is my own physical home, but also my family, and with the 9th house, which is responsible for astrology and publications (maybe that’s why I’m still writing this blog instead of going to sleep?). All my activity, as you can see, is closely related to all the elements of my natal Mars. Therefore, every time a planet transits your horoscope house, you need to take into account its nature, but also what it does in your natal horoscope. As an astrologer, during a session I focus on the more important events symbolized by the slower planets, while Mars usually indicates the time of these transits (the so-called trigger). However, my offer also includes fast-moving planets that affect our daily life and routine. For clients interested in continuous development and planning, I have created Astrocoaching & Therapy sessions, where we meet more often to look ahead at what awaits us and consider how to best use planetary influences in our lives to “catch the wind in our sails” and sail further and faster, much faster (especially with Mars).
